Create domain

Note:
If a domain is created on this way then it does not appear in the decomposition view (organizational hierarchy). It is only loaded into the domain library. If it is desired to be included into the domain decomposition just drag it from the "Domain Library" and drop into the organizational tree. (see more)

Domain properties

Each domain consist of:

• Indicator: can be considered as a kind of domain key (see more)

Note:
The indicator is suppose to be unique.
If the domain does not have an indicator it will not be included in the codification workbook.

Warning:
You cannot clear the indicator if there are values for this domain found in the codification workbook.
Clearing the indicator is not possible to prevent data lost in codification workbook.

• Name: the given name to a domain, this field is mandatory when create a new domain.
  

Tip:
It is recommended to give domains unique names within one workbook, otherwise exporting workbooks to MS Excel will causes problems.

• Alias: another name for a domain, if an alias is specified then it will be used when referring to a domain.
  

Tip:
You can use the name for a more technical naming and the alias (displayed naming) as a more functional naming.

Each domain has a list of characteristics:

• Description: the given description (details) of a domain.
• Comment: add additional comments regarding the domain.
• Properties: add properties to a domain. (define the properties in the master data)
• Documents: documents that are attached to this domain.
• Derived roles: these are the derived roles for this domain.

Delete domains

This method is used to delete a domain from the domain library.

Warning:
A domain can only be removed if the domain is not used in the domain decomposition anymore.
