Role maintenance.

There are 2 types of roles: single roles and composite roles.

 

Single role. (top)

A role (single) is a container of transactions and authorizations.

The most important properties for a single role are:

 

Role restore point.

Make sure the Activate role restore point option is set.

Open a role.

Open the Edit menu and choose Create restore point to start the creation of a restore point.

To remove the restore point : open the Edit menu and choose Clear restore point to clear the restore point.

To rollback changes to the restore point : open the Edit menu and choose Rollback from the menu, to return to situation as it existed on the moment of creation of the restore point.

 

Once a restore point is created for a role, the restore point icon appears next to its name (the same icon next to the Create restore point menu item). The icon tooltip shows the restore point creation date.

Restore and Rollback functionality have a mass changes counterpart.

Compare authorizations

Open a role.

Open the Edit menu and choose Compare authorizations.

 

The left pane of the form shows the derived roles and their authorizations, the right pane show the master role with its authorizations.

Composite role. (top)

A composite role is also called a function and is a grouping of single roles.

The most important property for a composite role is:

 

Warning:
A composite role can never contain other composite roles.

Note:
A role can be split in a navigation role that has the t-codes, and an authorization role, that has the authorizations.
The t-codes role can show the menu with the t-codes, the authorizations role can hide the menu
